Nostalgia

Taken 1st year studies at ACAD - 2008

It's funny flipping through saved images on my computer, just as it is going through old photographs, momentums, and other collectables that I have - and examining why is it Ive held onto it. What does it mean to me now? Or does it even still?

Sometimes just a simple color, style, technique or object draws me to an image and then weeks or months later I go back and sometimes it still holds interest and other times falls flat. It is interesting how as we change so does everything around us. Sometimes the things we love crumble and no longer hold that same love as it once did. One day I love my work and the next its just not good enough. Evolution is so constant that I long to reminisce on why things were so heart stopping in one instance and then temporary the next.

Instead of holding onto physical objects I now hold onto and collect just as many(if not more) on my computer - links to photos, blogs, clever words or wisdom, clothing, etc. This is what this abundance of photos is for - more myself than others - but a place to constantly go back to and explore something that sparks as interest of inspiration and explore all things that have made an impact in my creative process.

Everything has been done - but it has not been done by myself - so it is my process to take something from those that inspire me and twist it and shape it into something new to me that speaks of who I am and what I have to give.
